Campus Life Pet Therapy

Enjoy our recent interview with 2 time Emmy Award Producer, Danette Kubanda

Who We Are

Delta Omega Gamma is a national organization whose purpose is to design and implement full-time pet therapy dog programs on all college campuses.

Our programs engage students, faculty and staff to educate, train, and certify them with their dogs to become pet therapy teams.

The primary purpose of this program is to provide colleges an inclusive and dedicated team of pet therapist by the college campus for the college campus.

Once in place, your Delta Omega Gamma Pet Therapy Teams will be available to your entire campus to address the mental well-being of your students, faculty, and staff on a schedule that is perfect for you.

What We Do

Delta Omega Gamma engages with anyone on your campus interested in pet therapy to:

  1. Educate your campus community about pet therapy

  2. Evaluate the dogs of your students, faculty and staff to determine their suitability to become pet therapy dogs

  3. Assist in training your dogs for pet therapy

  4. Certify the dogs and handlers to become pet therapy teams

We will then assist you to organize structured events to benefit the mental well-being of your entire campus.

In addition, Delta Omega Gamma will provide continued education for everyone on the latest pet therapy trends.

Why We Do What We Do

Pet therapy has been proven to provide medical benefits. UCLA Health reports that the simple act of petting a dog lowers our heart rates, lowers our blood pressure, reduces our anxiety, all the while increasing our mental alertness.

When 65% of college students express overwhelming anxiety and our nation has a 40% college drop out rate, it is time to adopt a new approach to heal and retain our students. Although pet therapy is not new to college campuses, what is new is to create a national service organization on your campus, for your campus, by your campus. In this manner, you will have a full-time resource dedicated to addressing mental wellness.
